Data Skills Taskforce launch the Data Skills Portal – a tool to access and assess data science training in the UK
The Data Skills Taskforce is delighted to launch the Data Skills Portal – a new tool for measuring organisational data readiness in SMEs, accessing executive data skills training, and providing insight into policy, projects and case studies related to data skills in the U.K.
The Data Skills Portal provides a self-assessment tool to help businesses understand their organisational and technical readiness with respect to data. It will then signpost them to relevant resources and training to improve their capability across four dimensions of data readiness, including Use of Data, Culture and Governance, Skills and Tools.
“Our prior work on Quantifying the UK Data Skills Gap, in support of the National Data Strategy, highlights the challenges faced by organisations in developing capability in relation to data science and AI. The Data Skills Portal aims to reduce financial and geographic barriers to access to training, with a particular focus on SMEs, and support business development and value creation from data. The Data Skills Portal is a valuable resource to help organisations identify good quality free courses and develop their skills.”
Dr Matthew Forshaw
Senior Advisor for Skills at the Alan Turing Institute
“Through our National Data Strategy we are helping businesses up and down the country use data to be more competitive, provide better services to their customers and boost growth.
This fantastic new Data Skills Portal, developed with UK Government backing, will help British businesses get the skills they need to harness the power of data and make the most of the digital revolution over the years and decades to come."

Minister for Media, Data and Digital Infrastructure
